The Warwickshire Ladies Over-55's played their third match of the season against a strong
Lancashire side on Saturday in North Manchester. Mel Jennings once again put in a determined performance in her singles match against Lancashire's captain and No 1 player,
Jill Fernando. After a lengthy and hard-fought battle, Jennings narrowly lost on the championship tie-break.
However, she bounced back in the doubles, pairing with Miyuki Karski to secure a convincing win 6-1 6-4 - Warwickshire's only rubber of the day. Earlier Miyuki made her singles debut for the team, putting in a commendable effort despite the result not going her way. Captain Kate Perkins partnered Carolyn Lindsay for both doubles rubbers. The first was a tightly contested match, with the Warwickshire pair falling short in two close tie-break sets 6-7, 6-7. The second doubles proved more challenging with Lancashire dominating in a 6-2 6-2 victory.
While the overall result went in Lancashire's favour, Warwickshire showed resilience and moments of strong play, particularly in the doubles win by Jennings and Karski.
