Welfare Officer

Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility, and the Welfare Officer plays a key role in keeping it on the agenda at your club or venue. The role isn’t overly time-consuming or something to feel daunted by — it’s about being a visible, approachable presence who helps promote a safe and inclusive environment.

If you’re not already trained, you’ll receive a short induction session. Your main responsibility is to ensure safeguarding is actively considered at your venue, and to support members in passing any concerns to the LTA National Safeguarding Team, who will handle investigations.

You’d be a great fit if you are:
    •    Approachable and trustworthy
    •    Engaging and supportive
    •    Able to manage conflict calmly
    •    A good listener
    •    Professional and helpful

This role gives you the chance to apply your existing experience from work or volunteering, while developing transferable skills for future opportunities.

Venue Support

All Warwickshire LTA registered tennis venues have access to support and advice from the County Safeguarding Officer who will happily help with any queries you may have about the safeguarding standards. Get in touch with them HERE.

What Does a Young Person Welfare Ambassador Do?

An Ambassador’s role is to:

  • Provide a young person’s voice and perspective to promote safeguarding and welfare at their venues

  • Raise awareness of safeguarding and welfare issues amongst members and players

  • Gather feedback from young people to enable them to have a greater say in safeguarding discussions

  • Provide an important link between venue committees, children and young people.

To explore how you and your venue can get involved, speak to your venue Welfare Officer or a member of the committee or coaching team.

If you are interested in this exciting opportunity to appoint a YPWA, please complete our online form and we will be in touch.
