Coaching Philosophy & Approach

A Consistent, Supportive Coaching Environment

Our coaches follow a unified coaching philosophy built around respect, challenge and enjoyment. They are committed to helping players feel confident, motivated and supported at every stage of their development. Each session balances technical improvement, tactical understanding, physical development and emotional wellbeing, ensuring players grow holistically as athletes and as young people.

Coaches are selected not only for their qualifications and experience, but also for their ability to inspire, communicate and build strong working relationships with players and families.

Quality Standards & Coaching Expectations

Our coaching team follows clear standards to ensure every player receives high-quality, consistent support across all age groups. Coaches are regularly recruited, trained and appraised to maintain these standards and ensure they align with Warwickshire Tennis values.

Our Coaching Standards Include:
  • Delivering safe, structured and engaging sessions
  • Promoting Fair Play, respect and positive behaviour
  • Supporting player wellbeing, confidence and resilience
  • Providing constructive, age-appropriate feedback
  • Leading by example at training and during County Cup events
  • Working in partnership with parents, administrators and the safeguarding team
These expectations ensure that all players benefit from a professional, nurturing and inspiring coaching environment.
Team Captains & Age-Group Coaches

Each age group has an appointed County Cup Captain, who leads both training sessions and team events. This helps players build trust, consistency and rapport with the coach who will guide them into competitive environments.

Our coaching team plays a vital role in delivering the Warwickshire County Training and County Cup programmes. Each age group is led by a dedicated LTA Accredited Coach who also serves as the County Cup Captain, providing continuity between training and competition. Together, our coaches create a positive, high-quality environment focused on player development, teamwork and long-term progression.
