County Training Programme

High-Quality, High-Energy Training

Our County Training sessions give players a structured, supportive and challenging environment to develop their tennis. Training includes technical work, tactical themes, matchplay, doubles skills, movement and physical conditioning. Players also develop confidence, resilience and the teamwork skills that are essential for County Cup competitions.

All sessions are delivered by an LTA Accredited Coach, who is also the County Cup Captain for that age group. This allows captains to build strong relationships with players and understand how best to prepare them for competition.

Training Dates & Structure

Training dates are set directly by the lead coach for each age group. This ensures sessions are scheduled around competition calendars and coach availability.
Training is held indoors wherever possible, especially during autumn and winter, to maintain quality and consistency.

The programme runs across two terms each year:

  • Term 1: September – February

  • Term 2: March – July

Players typically train once per month, with session content adapted to each age group's development needs.

Training, Development & County Cup

Our County Training and County Cup programme gives young players the chance to develop their game, train with their peers and represent Warwickshire in a fun, competitive and supportive environment. It forms a key part of the Player Pathway and helps players grow in confidence, skill and team spirit

Programme Goals & Development

In the younger age groups (8U–10U), we occasionally identify players who are ready for a greater challenge and the opportunity to play at a higher age group.

A maximum of two players may be invited to train or compete one age group above their own if:

  • They display maturity and capability beyond their current group

  • They are physically and emotionally ready for the step up

  • It is considered beneficial for their long-term development

This is always done in the best interest of the player and is reviewed carefully by the coaching team.
