Captains Report- written by Mel Jennings

After our recent win over Yorkshire, the county 55s team had high hopes for the next home fixture against Lincolnshire.
However, we lost 1-4 to the visitors on a sweltering afternoon at Kenilworth.
Mel Jennings battled from a 0-6 deficit to take Jane Hunter to a deciding tie-break while Julie Davies lost in two sets to Sarah Jane Spurrell.
Meanwhile, Viv Spencer and Jette Cowan were also pipped in a tie-break by Melanie Bloodworth and Tracy Cardy.
At the changeover, captain Kate Perkins stood in to play with Mel for a two-set win but Viv and Jette found the going too tough on the day. Despite the overall loss, we all had a very enjoyable afternoon.
Our remaining fixtures are at Lancashire and Hertfordshire. We are all part of a great squad and have enjoyed many practices. Thanks to Kate for the organisation and all-important tea!
