Captains Report

Day 1 -

We realised quite early on that we had a tough day on Saturday. We weren't on first so that meant getting there slightly later and trying to get a practise court outside. We managed to do that and warm the girls up, get the team spirit going and watch some of our opponents.

We were up first against Lancashire with Destinee and Izzy kicking us off. It's not an easy

venue for parents to watch as its a very narrow corridor down the middle of the 4 courts.

Myself and Ian were on court with the girls and we could hear the support from our girls and

parents.

Izzy and Destinee got off to a great start, Izzy just taking the match and Destinee just losing

on a championship tiebreak.

It was then over to liberty and Arya as 1 and 2. We knew both matches were tough and we

were going to go in fighting. Both girls lost but had great matches, Liberty also losing on a

championship tie break.

Whilst Liberty and Arya were still playing they put Destinee and Isabel on against Yorkshire,

with only a quick 15 minutes rest in between. Unfortunately this was a disadvantage for us

with so little time to rest physically and mentally. Both girls had tough matches, with Destinee having to retire due to ongoing knee pain. Izzy fought so hard just losing in a championship tie break.

Championship tiebreak definitely weren't are friends today!

Liberty and Arya also went straight back on, and did well against strong opponents.

We got lunch and regrouped. The girls were fighting is hard and it was great to get a bit of a

rest before doubles.

Although the doubles didn't go our way, it was great to bring Evie in for the doubles and the

girls worked really well together.

Lost to Lancashire 5-1

Lost to Yorkshire 6-0

Day 2 -

The girls had a long night, not finishing on court until nearly 6.30pm and then waiting nearly

an hour and a half for food, eating at 9.30pm. However they had a good breakfast and were

warming up ready for their day! We had a little team chat about who we were playing today

and who was up for it. Destinee was still a bit worried about playing singles with her knees,

and Evie was up for the challenge.

We were taking on East of Scotland first and we knew we had a chance as they had similar

results to us on day 1.

In first to work their magic was Evie and Izzy!

Both got off to a great start taking us to a 2-0 lead, with Evie winning on a great

championship tiebreak! Liberty and Arya were next, against solid players. Liberty just losing

on a cham tie break and Arya fighting hard.

We then had to play against Cambridgeshire, knowing we were 2-2 with Scotland still!

Off to start for us were Evie and Izzy again! Both came out fighting hard, with Izzy just

crossing the line. Then came Liberty and Arya, with some great points played but unfortunately coming 2nd this time.

We were then back to playing against Scotland. We were fired up and wanted our first win.

Liberty and Izzy got off to an amazing start and won the doubles without dropping a game!

That inspired Destinee and Arya and they won on a championship tie break to save us going

to a shoot out!!

We then finished off the doubles against Cambridgeshire, just losing one of the doubles 11-9!!

Beat East of Scotland 4-2

Lost to Cambridgeshire 5-1

The girls were amazing this weekend, it was 2 long days of tennis. Their behaviour was

impeccable especially as lots of their opponents were using lots of tactics and not the best

sportsmanship! We were extremely lucky with our parents as well, they left myself and Ian to

it, they trusted us with their girls. They also didn't communicate with the referee like most

other parents! Like the children, they represented Warwickshire in a way we would like and

are proud of!

Ian was fantastic all weekend, he kept me calm when some of the coaches, parents and

children's behaviour was some of the worst I have seen in a while! The girls listened to us both on court and took our advice!

We wish the girls good luck going into the 11 and under county team and hope to see them

playing in my ladies team in a few years time!
