We had a fantastic weekend in Grantham with the 10 and under county girls. We started off against the home county of Lincoln and got off to a great start with Liberty and Issy taking us to a 2-0 lead. The girls got use to the Clay and found their rhythm quickly.

Arya and Chloe then came on and added to that lead!

We were then up against a strong Staffordshire County, with whom the girls know as some train together.

This time it was Destinee and Issy going first.

Destinee got off to a great start and powered through her opponent, with Issy playing a clever game of short balls and lots of angles.

Arya and Chloe came on feeling positive after being 2-0 up and played some fantastic tennis to take us 4-0 up.

We then had the doubles against Lincoln with Destinee and Issy winning theirs comfortable. Chloe and Liberty had a walk over.

Liberty and Chloe took on Staffordshire in the doubles with Destinee and Arya pairing together. The girls worked well as a team and were too strong for Staffordshire, winning both rubbers.

Day 1 results

V Lincoln 6-0 win

V Staffordshire 6-0 win

Day 2

We were up against Gloucestershire to start with. The girls had a long day yesterday and didn't finish until 6.15pm, but that didn't stop them coming out strong!

Liberty and Issy had tough battles but both came out on top without dropping a set.

It was then Arya and Chloe's turn. Arya battled hard and won a tie break along the way. Chloe's opponent was trying a few tactics along the way but that didn't distract Chloe from her comfortable win.

We were then to face Shropshire to decide who would be crowned champions! We knew it was going to be a tough battle especially playing in 25 degrees. However the girls were spending lots of time in the shade, drinking lots and resting.

Destinee and Issy played some fantastic tennis taking us to a 2-0 lead, with some fantastic angles from both girls!

It was then over to Arya and Chloe for their singles, both girls battles hard, with some amazing long rallies and drop shots along the way! It wasn't to be for Arya this time but Chloe managed to get over the line.

We then had the doubles against Gloucestershire to play, with Chloe and Destinee playing together this time and Arya and Liberty. Both pairs worked well together and got the wins.

It was now time to finish our match against Shropshire. We only needed 1 rubber to secure victory but we all know that last rubber is the hardest to get!!

Liberty and Issy together, Destinee and Chloe and lots of supporting from Arya and the parents! Both matches were having some great rallies and the girls were fighting hard. Unfortunately Issy and Liberty lost their match so it was over to Chloe and Destinee to try and get over the line! There was lots of long rallies, and plenty of volleys along the way. The girls worked well together and finished with a volley winner to secure the victory!!!

Day 2 results

V Gloucestershire 6-0 win

V Shropshire 4-2 win

The girls worked so hard over the weekend, they had 2 very long hot days but this didn't dampen their spirits! They worked really well as a team, supporting each other along the way! The parents were fantastic as well, they left myself and Ian to it and trusted our advice.

We are looking forward to the finals in Boston in June!
